Sutras for the Untethered
By Ken Horii

This drawing is one of a series of works titled, Sutras for the Untethered. The series, and this individual work, references the Sanskrit term Sutra: Vedic/Buddhist scripture that is a thread that binds or sews and makes law. The drawings present knots in various forms, and states of transition, as Sutures, (as in surgical knotting from the Latin suere: to sew) that bind and make connections. This series is both a continuation of my ongoing exploration of diagrammatic presentation, and recent considerations of knot theory as metaphor for Buddhist concepts.
